Job Description

Would you like to join a world class team and help to construct the next generation of Smart Motorway networks that keep Britain moving? Rullion are proud to be partnering with Balfour Beatty to recruit for Sub Agents to join the M4 Smart Motorway team.

This is the largest Smart Motorway project in the UK and includes the demolition and rebuild of 11 bridges as well as the installation and build of 4 new bridge structures that will carry road users over roads, railways and rivers.

What you'll be doing:

The successful Sub Agent will lead and control a section of the works and will manage of a team of Section Engineers & Site Engineers within same discipline.

Typical duties would include:

  • Liaison between the Sub Agent and client on site.

  • Motivate and manage a team of subcontractors, Section Engineers and Site Engineers and undertake training / coaching as appropriate.

  • Ownership of all quality processes including site audits and documentation.

  • Guide and coach subordinates in technical requirements and techniques of setting out.

  • Review method statements and risk assessments

  • Track and monitor KPI compliance and recommend improvements to systems to maintain team production

  • Produces a budget from the resourced programme and monitors / reviews weekly costs.

  • Ensuring a relentless focus on Zero Harm.

  • What we're looking for:

  • You will be able to demonstrate strong heavy civils or bulk earthworks experience as a Sub Agent ideally gained within the UK motorway or highway network.

  • Strong knowledge and management of construction process in one or more of the following areas: Earthworks/Drainage, Pavement, Comms, Structures, Roadworks.

  • You will have completed construction related degree or will have gained equivalent experience within industry.

  • You will hold a current driving license and CSCS Card. SSSTS or SMSTS qualified

  • You should be a strong communicator who can ensure that the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure are followed accurately. Suggests improvements to systems

  • You will work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility
