Job Description

Would you like to join a world class team and help to construct the next generation of Smart Motorway networks that keep Britain moving? Rullion are in an exclusive partnership with Balfour Beatty to support their recruitment on the M4 Smart motorways contract.

Balfour Beatty are constructing the works to improve the M4 between junction 3 at Hayes and junction 12 at Theale by upgrading it to a smart motorway. Since the main construction works commenced in 2018, they are currently working at Junction 5, Westbound.

This is the largest Smart motorway project in the UK and includes the demolition and rebuild of 11 bridges as well as the installation and build of 4 new bridge structures that will carry road users over roads, railways and rivers.

What you'll be doing:

To assist with this work, they are currently recruiting a number of Site Engineers on a permanent basis to join their M4 Smart Motorway team. Such an ambitious project requires a diverse range of skills and are looking for Site Engineers with experience in any of the following areas: Smart motorways, roadworks, drainage, earthworks, piling, FRC, pavement construction and surfacing.

The successful candidates will undertake the control and implementation of works on site, including monitoring and reporting of progress.

Typical duties would include:

  • Checking technical information, completing Inspection and Test Plans and Quality Check Sheets

  • Setting the site teams to works with the necessary documentation

  • Assisting with the production of short term programmes

  • Completion of asbuilt programmes in line with the stage programmes

  • Carrying out safety duties

  • Undertaking Setting out activities

  • Producing method statements and risk assessments and ensure they are being followed

  • Checking works during progress and ensuring design information are marked up on completion

  • Taking receipt of materials

  • What we're looking for:

  • Have a Civil Engineering degree or equivalent experience

  • Hold a minimum of a CSCS Card and a drivers license

  • Experience in roadworks, drainage, earthworks, piling, FRC, pavement construction, surfacing

  • Setting out experience is a must, along with the ability to use level and EDM, plus GPS

  • Understand the Permit to Dig System

  • Be knowledgeable and experienced in the use of Specification and other Contract documents

  • Be able to take off and schedule material quantities accurately
