Senior Project Planner - Transmission

Blantyre - Scotland

£280 - £325 per day dependant on experience

Please note, experience of MS Projects and Primavera P6 is required for this contract.

As Senior Project Planner you'll be responsible for the development, update & review of complex project plans within a portfolio for the £2.3bn Investment Plan of the clients Transmission Major Projects, reporting on the month-to-month movement of defined project KPIs for the portfolio, using specialist Planning Software and established IT Software tools.

Main Responsibilities
•Generate and develop new project plans for SP Transmission Major Projects in a coherent, consistent format, resolving all project-centric scope or specific issues by interfacing with members of the Project Team.
•Use Planning techniques to determine and display interactions between discreet projects, highlighting potential clashes in advance - allowing project teams to solve issues at the earliest opportunity.
•Take into account Environmental & Planning, Engineering Design and System Access requirements to Develop Complex Transmission major project plans. Interface with relevant business experts to obtain the task detail required to provide adequate project scheduling information - allowing project performance to be monitored against agreed project control measures (KPIs).
•Review the quality of and accuracy of project programmes from other areas of the Planning Dept., providing detailed & constructive feedback, allowing continual improvement of programme quality, accuracy and consistency.
•Update project plans at a pre-determined frequency (usually monthly); obtaining the relevant inputs through collaboration with other Project Team Members.
•Produce portfolio level monthly reports based upon the most up-to-date Project Plan KPIs to inform & assist the portfolio level management decision making process - informing of individual project, or holistic portfolio, performance & direction.
•Analyse internal departmental schedules & external contractor project plans as required; ensuring and advising the Project Team of their suitability and any actions required to meet the overall project plan control & schedule targets.
•Attend internal and external meetings as required, providing planning advice, reports, KPIs and programme views to assist Project Team decision making.
•Comply with the relevant Quality Management System and support any process improvement initiatives.

Desirable Skills
•HNC in Engineering/Mathematical discipline or previous experience in scheduling/programming/ planning projects and a portfolio of works.
•Knowledge of scheduling using industry standard software such as Primavera and MS Project.
•Experience working with Engineering Specifications and documentation.
•Knowledge about the configuration and general arrangement of electricity supply infrastructure e.g. substations, overhead lines and cables.
•Proven ability to work in a team environment.
•Good spoken & written communication skills.
•Experienced in report writing.
•Experienced in the use of MS Office tools: Excel, Word, Access, etc.
•Appreciation of quality assurance processes.
