Marketing and Communications Officer
Up to £28,000 per annum

My client a forward thinking, rapidly growing property organisation, who specialise in regeneration. Currently as a Group they employer upwards of 600 people across the UK and have a turnover in excess of £60 million.

They have built housing for sale, social and private rent and shared ownership in both city centre and rural locations.

Following a restructure, exciting new opportunities have become available within the company's communications department and as such they are seeking a Communications offer to join their team on a permanent basis.


Job purpose
To manage communications, internal and external, for individual parts of the Group including its subsidiaries, by providing an account management service which includes strategic and operational communications advice, planning and implementation.

To lead on media relations, providing a specialist service to the Department or the Group and knowledge, advice, planning and implementation.

Key responsibilities
?A non-exhaustive list of the key role responsibilities is detailed below:
?Write and implement communications and marketing plans.
?Brief designers, agencies, photographers and other suppliers.
?Create content, including copy-writing and editing, and basic design, video and photography.
?Provide planning, support and management for events.
?Research, measure and evaluate, and identify areas for continuous improvement.
?Produce or manage the production of materials including design, print, online content, websites, merchandise, photography etc.
?Handle media and social media enquiries and generate proactive publicity.
?Plan and procure paid-for advertising.
?Manage spend and budgets for projects etc.
?Support or partner the Communications Managers and the Communications Director in work for other parts of the business as required.
?To understand and support the company's commitment to investing in communities and actively contribute to achieving this vision within the job role.
?To ensure compliance with the Group's Health and Safety policies.
?To undertake relevant Continuing Professional Development applicable to their professional body and be prepared to undertake training as directed by the Group.
?The post holder may be directed by their line manager to carry out other duties and responsibilities in line with his/her post, grade, skills, knowledge and experience.
?To provide the Group's media relations service, generating positive media coverage and protecting the reputation of the Group and its subsidiaries.
?To provide strategic and operational media relations advice across the Group.
?To provide an editorial and copy writing service to the Department and the Group, including writing a variety of content (e.g. news items, e-newsletters and print newsletters, longer articles, web and social media content) for all types of media and ensuring brand standards and the plain language style is used across the Group.
?To advise on the latest media relations issues, trends and developments.
?To manage media relations and reputation management in a crisis or long-running issues.
?To create and foster contacts in the media and key stakeholders.
?To lead on media monitoring, analytics and evaluation, including managing the required copyright licences.
?To facilitate training and support for colleagues across the Group in media relations and writing.
?To understand and support the company's commitment to investing in communities and actively contribute to achieving this vision within the job role.
?To ensure compliance with the Group's Health and Safety policies.

Criteria;
A list of the desired skills, experience, knowledge and personal attributes to ensure individuals are 'the right fit' for the Company and the role is detailed below:

?Relevant experience in a PR, marketing or communications role.
?Excellent writing skills, suitable for different channels and audiences.
?Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to represent the organisation at external meetings, to build relations with stakeholders and to negotiate with suppliers.
?Great account management skills, able to be a critical friend and soundboard and to challenge constructively.
?Strategic and creative thinker.
?Experience in producing a variety of communications materials including print, online, social media, exhibition etc.
?Experience in running projects.
?Experience in communications planning.
?Ability to produce basic design, photography and video work.
?Good IT skills e.g. Office365, web CMS etc.
?Educated to degree level and / or professional qualification.
?The post holder may on occasion be required to travel to other offices and therefore the ability to travel to other offices and locations which may not be easily accessible by public transport.
?Experience in running a busy press office.
?Experience of managing media in a crisis.
?An eye for a good story and the ability to develop it.
?To develop an awareness of risk and associated policies to ensure that procedures are followed, and risk is managed appropriately.
