Responsibilities & Duties
Key responsibilities include:
Develop and deliver a suitable SHE strategy for HARMAN.
Develop and deliver the annual Company SHE objectives and targets.
Develop and implement behaviour based cultural approach to SHE.
Monitor performance and recommend actions to achieve the strategy and culture.
Evaluate the workplace environment and through a gap analysis identify SHE policies, procedures and management systems that require improvement.
Provide expert SHE advice to teams throughout HARMAN and at all levels.
Ensure best practice is being delivered through extensive internal and external audit programme.
Develop Safe Systems of Work as appropriate and implement throughout the workforce (including visitors / sub-contractors).
Monitor all SHE and Chemical related legislation and propose methods of maintaining compliance to the Board, implement accordingly.
Build appropriate Safety Training and Refresher plans for the workforce, including delivery of training if appropriate and ability to demonstrate competence in training records.
Manage ROSPA applications and registrations and hosts other external audits and stakeholders such as BSI, HSE, EA and OHSAS.
Maintain and communicate all Company SHE related KPI's.
Ensure all accidents and near misses are rigorously reported, thoroughly investigated, and any recommendations are implemented. Provides analysis of accident/incident statistics, identifying trends and suggesting improvement plans.
Manage risk across the site - identify the key risks and develop strategies to reduce them to an acceptable level.
Provides technical support to Senior Management on any safety related subjects, including input into HAZOP meetings or documentation for tenders, procurement, installation, commissioning and / or decommissioning of plant and equipment.
Responds to customers SHE enquiries.
Recommend and write SHE information for website
Develop and implement a strategy for employees physical and mental health.
Acts as the crisis controller (via an on-call rota), in an emergency situation (e.g. chemical leak), acting and taking decisions to control the incident or disaster and mitigate risk to people, plant, environment, community and the company.
Undertake all activities in line with Company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures and participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace.
Required Skills & Experience
Professional qualifications in HSE (Nebosh Diploma) or significant and demonstrable experience in SHE.
Demonstrable experience of leading a Company Health, Safety and Environment function.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to influence change across the business
Able to build relationships and connections at all levels both internal and external to HARMAN.
Demonstrable problem-solving skills, including ability to identify underlying issues and cause and effect relationships.
Drive and commitment to deliver pragmatic results.
A passion for SHE and improving the safety culture of workplaces.
Powerful teamworking and relationship building skills
Exemplary written and verbal communication skills applicable to all levels of the organisation.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Able to adopt a flexible approach to company requests within your level of responsibility, skill set, training and knowledge.
