Job Description

The Hinkley Point C Project is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe. During the business construction phase over 5,600 people will work on the site. The project marks the rebirth of the UK's nuclear industry and will present invaluable opportunities for Somerset, the South West and wider UK.

Assistant Contract Project Manager

PAYE Contract (+ 33 days paid leave).

Principal Accountabilities
The primary responsibility of the role of RD Contract Assistant Contract Project Manager is to support the Plant Integration Engineering Managers and Plant Integration Delivery Branch Manager to manage the RD Contract and ensure that the engineering is delivered safely to cost, schedule and quality.

Other responsibilities of the Project Manager include;

Maintaining effective communications with all stakeholders and executing the Project strategies within the delivery of the contract

Drive the delivery of the contract and associated activities to ensure they are delivered safely, on time, to budget, meeting business & technical requirements

Monitor and manage the progress of the programme - track progress against milestones, deadlines, budget and provide key stakeholders with associated reports

Anticipate, manage and resolve issues within the contract. Understand certain parts of RD Contract Scope and identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, develop and update the programme budget and escalate any issues

Management and progress monitoring of NNB's acceptance of RD deliverables and activities

Managing the interface with the RD (EDVANCE and EDF SA) contract management team and HPC engineers and leads

Identifying and coordinating the involvement of multiple stakeholders, including project management, document management and technical teams

Regular reporting of progress and issues (KPI)

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

Ideally, knowledge of working in and environment consisting of Project Management or Project Engineering on large or complex engineering or construction projects

Degree or equivalent (in relevant technical or business subject)

Excellent organisational and communication skills

Coordination skills and leadership

Decision making and escalation ability for resolution of issues

Budget and commercial awareness

Ability to learn quickly and demonstrate evidence of using a 'problem-solving' approach

Ability to build strong working relationships with and effectively manage internal and external stakeholders

HNC/HND or Degree in an engineering, construction, physics or other related field.

Good knowledge of CDM Regulations.

Can demonstrate experience of managing projects through the project lifecycle from concept to handover

Understanding the needs of quality and how quality is assured and controlled.
