Job DescriptionOur client, a market leader within the Utilities industry, is looking to recruit a Boiler Technician to be based in Trafford on a 6 month contract basis
The purpose of this role is to operate and maintain the steam raising plant and associated heat distribution and water treatment systems, ensuring the company complies with statutory operation and maintenance activities. Starting and shutting down of the steam boilers including lay-over periods.
Day to day operation of the steam raising plant and associated heat distribution and feed water systems.
Daily, weekly, monthly and annual statutory checks.
Process adjustments and escalations following checks and investigations.
Recording data in line with procedures.
Production of trends and subsequent analysis of key process parameters.
Timely review of associated procedures and corporate documentation.
Preparing plant for inspections and process isolations.
Act as responsible person and PCW where applicable.
To carry out regular diagnosis, adjustment and optimisation of steam raising plant and ancillaries' assets to achieve optimum performance of the steam raising plant and ancillaries' process. Match the requirements for the site processes with the delivery of targeted power production.
To diagnose and rectify faults and ensure correct operation of steam raising plant and ancillaries boilers and ancillaries thereby optimising the availability of the steam raising plant and ancillaries process.
To perform planned maintenance activities on steam raising plant and ancillaries boilers and associated ancillaries and energy generation assets to achieve the required levels of availability.
To analyse the combustion process of the boiler and burners and carry out adjustments to the steam system control to deliver fuel efficient boiler operation within the manufacturers predetermined tolerances whilst adhering to the regulatory limits set in the site PPC permit.
To input into and where agreed implement recommended solutions to recurring maintenance or operational problems, RCFA.
Knowledge and Skills
Time served in relevant engineering discipline, HNC, ONC or equivalent in a relevant technical area
BOAS accredited with steam boiler experience
Experience of operating and maintaining steam boilers, steam raising plant, HV/LV power generation installations, alternators, heat recovery systems.
