Job DescriptionMAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Managing the Insight Function
Line management of two staff members and any additional freelance or agency resource employed by the team.
Drawing out the 'essence' of insight requests and their strategic aims, being accountable for scoping and prioritising these requests, and checking against the existing insight library to see which questions can already be answered.
Prioritising and managing workflow to ensure that the correct requests are worked on, quality is high, and deadlines are met.
Communicating effectively with all stakeholders to flexibly plan and update on requests progress, and ensure maximum usefulness of analysis.
Ensuring that analysis and reporting is properly contextualised across different outputs, placed in a strategic context, and leads to actionable recommendations.
Collaborating with colleagues to ensure that recommendations arising from analysis are embedded into the development of plans and strategies.
Leading the analysis of behavioural, transactional and external data on supporters to find new trends and relationships within our supporter base.
Turning complex analysis into powerful yet intuitive and jargon-free story-telling and visualisations which are understandable and actionable by non-technical colleagues.
Providing meaningful analysis and regular reporting to management and operational teams to guide critical decision-making.
Undertaking any other duties, as appropriate to the post, as delegated by the Deputy Fundraising Director: Data, Planning and Insight.

Experience in people and team management.
Experience in scoping, managing and prioritising large numbers of competing requests for information.
Ability to get on with a wide variety of internal stakeholders and to effectively manage these relationships through strong communication skills, giving regular progress reports and updates.
Ability to ensure full understanding of colleagues' needs through a requirements gathering and briefing process, getting 'under the skin' of requests to find out what teams really need and can make happen.
Ability to communicate complex, technical information to non-technical staff
Ability to present findings of analysis and research in an engaging and inspiring manner, including using data visualisation tools
Ability to link findings to suggestions and recommendations that are effective and actionable in a fundraising context.
Experience with SQL
Experience of applying the most suitable approaches and/or statistical analysis for particular projects (e.g. factor analysis, regression etc.)
Experience of using and building reports, preferably in Tableau.
Experience creating and continuously improving BI reports to a user base of differing technical knowledge and business interests
Experience with data science tools such as Google Analytics, R, Python
Experience leading and developing a data insight team preferred.
