Job Description

ROLE: High Temperature Superconductor Mechanical Engineer
SALARY: Competitive

•Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering
•Experience designing equipment in cryogenic and vacuum environments
•3D CAD experience, preferably Solid Edge
•Experience working in scientific environment
•Willingness to learn new techniques and technologies
•Ability to devise and operate effective project schedules

•Knowledge of pressure vessel codes, EN1445 or PD5500
•Experience with Finite Element Analysis, familiarity with ANSYS
•Experience with joining dissimilar metals
•Experience of vacuum feedthroughs for power and instrumentation wiring

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design of pressure and vacuum vessels, design of magnet support structures, stress calculations, production of design concepts to satisfy manufacture, assembly and maintenance requirements. As well as this, material selection, production of detailed design drawings and bill of materials, manage suppliers, contribute effectively in a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists.
