Job Description

SQL DBA - Nantwich - up to £40k + bonus

Excellent client based in Nantwich are looking for a DBA on a permanent basis to help support a period of expansion within the business. The data department is undergoing a period of transition and change and is looking to support this with an improved data estate and architecture.

The successful candidate will work within the DevOps function in order to performance tune and manage the performance of the estate. You will also be expected to take an active role in the Database Architecture function, defining and delivering IT strategy in line with the wider business aims.

Responsibilities for this role include:

Management of various database environments
-
Ongoing maintenance of DBA processes and policies
-
Woking with the team to ensure performance of applications across production systems
-
Pay particular attention to security, performance and high availability
-
Providing guidance to wider IT teams in relation to database maintenance and monitoring
-
Delivering and managing changes to production databases

Requirements for this role include:

-
Strong SQL Server experience (2008R2, 2012, 2014, 2016)
-
Performance tuning of business critical tabular environments
-
Backup/restores
-
Index Tuning
-
HA/DR components; Clustering, Log-shipping, Mirroring, Always-on
-
Understanding of relational DB architecture
-
Experience of SSRS, SSIS
-
Strong experience of T-SQL (stored procedures, functions, query tuning)
-
Replication & clustering experience
-
Experience of High Availability environments

Desirable skills:

-
Strong interpersonal skills
-
Knowledge of multiple RDBMS (PostgreSQL, PROGRESS, MySQL, MongoDB etc)
-
Use and knowledge of APPDynamics
