Our client a world leader specialist manufacturer and formulator of silicone emulsions and compounds is looking for an experienced maintenance manager from a mechanical background preferably with good experience in the process industry to manage maintenance operations to ensure the smooth running of all plant and facilities to enable all operational requirements and efficiencies to be met and ideally exceeded, and to minimize production downtime.

Salary - £34k - £43k depending on experience.
JOB SCOPE -
Management and improvement of the maintenance system to comply with Quality Work Instructions (WI) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that form part
of the Quality Management System (QMS).
Use computerised control and reporting systems (gKAIS), Permit to Work and maintenance record keeping to provide evidence of control of activities within the department.
Management of the Maintenance team and contractors.
Coordination with manufacturing, logistics, technical and all office staff at all of the BCCL sites.
Build strong relationships with other operational functions to generate a timely flow of information and thereby ensure good decision making on utilisation of resources within the department.
In conjunction with colleagues in the Operations Department, provide a problem solving resource to identify causes of failures and implement permanent solutions, Regular contact with suppliers and contractors, involving price negotiation and
supervision of work and provision of evidence of compliance.
The role will involve working on all BCCL sites, and also contact with all departments and contractors. This generates the need to comply with local rules,
H&S and procedures required to comply with GMP, GLP, HACCP etc.
Key tasks, responsibilities and qualities.
Maintain a safe and effective operation of all systems and facilities within the
Maintain a positive Health, Safety and environmental culture in all staff and
contractors on site
Maintenance of a clean, tidy and safe work place at all times.
Preparation and review of Risk assessments for maintenance activities
Accountabilities & Expectation
Own and develop the PPM system ensuring checks and repairs are carried
out on time and effectively by the Maintenance Team.
Manage the scheduling of both preventative and breakdown tasks
Manage the scheduling and administration of the maintenance team to allow
recording and retrieval of data on the maintenance preformed.
Report monthly on the performance of the maintenance function in terms of
workload, achievements and effectiveness
Record keeping of statutory, regulatory and maintenance inspections.
Routine purchasing of maintenance items.
Monitor spares for critical equipment to ensure a fast response to breakdowns
Conduct equipment life span, obsolescence studies and develop appropriate
upgrade / replacement strategies
Develop and maintain a system to pull together maintenance costs per item /
Assist with engineering activities on the plant where competent to do so.
Development, training and organisation of a team of staff to provide a flexible
and effective workforce with good morale, attendance and output.
Control of maintenance procedure training records
Carry out performance reviews and disciplinary procedures in liaison with HR
and in accordance with all current legislation and company policy;
Set and monitor objectives for the team to ensure all KPIs are met
Ensure that all repairs are done in a safe and timely manner; with
prioritisation of repairs and minor improvements in line with the business and departmental policy
Work in cross-functional teams to investigate equipment, determine performance of equipment and / or investigate failures and incidents, with a
view to identify of improvements.
Carry out Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for critical plant issues suggesting
engineering solutions for major downtime incidents
Approval and control of contractors across the maintenance function.
Setting up of maintenance contracts with various suppliers.

KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Must be an influential Team Leader and have an understanding of maintenance techniques.
