EVP and Employer Brand

An Employer Brand is a publicly held view about your products, services, staff, and company history. It is the perception of your business held by your customers and also the the wider population concerning how you do business and the reputation you have within your chosen marketplace.

Much like corporate brands, an Employer Brand is essentially a company's route to market and the defining characteristics that set you apart from other businesses.

Strongly linked to Employer Brand is a company's Employer Value Proposition, or EVP. An EVP is the reason why someone works or may want to work for you, and takes into consideration job perks, company culture, quality of work available, work/life balance and much more. A company's EVP inherently feeds into their Employer Brand; it's impossible to have a strong Employer Brand without being able to offer someone a compelling reason to work for you and vice versa.

Benefits of a Strong Employer Brand

The benefits of a strong Employer Brand and EVP, both internally and externally, are widely known. These include:

  • Passive talent attraction - a strong EVP encourages the best possible talent to work for you without you even making contact with them
  • Improved employee retention
  • Enhanced employee engagement
  • Faster time-to-hire
  • Larger candidate pool to draw on for future hiring needs.

Given the numerous benefits that come with a strong Employer Brand/EVP, a successful recruitment marketing strategy should revolve around these key two elements.
