Make a difference at United Utilities

Opportunity on tap

Rullion is working in partnership with United Utilities to manage the Kickstart Recruitment process.

United Utilities provides water and wastewater services to around seven million people in the North West. Behind the scenes that means operating enough miles of pipework and sewers to wrap three times round the planet, investing billions of pounds to improve water and the environment across the North West, while taking care of some of the most scenic and environmentally sensitive countryside in the region.

They are embracing new technology and thinking outside the box to improve services for their customers and even harnessing the renewable energy potential of the region's water, waste and weather. In short, it's their job to bring three million households and 200,000 businesses, clean, clear water and to take their waste water away so our customers can simply get on with their day.

Be part of the flow of life

As part of the Kickstart job placement each participant will be provided with all the relevant skills, experiences, training and support required to fulfil the role and to seek employment post placement. We will equip each young person with all of the basic skills and training they need to flourish in the working environment, and we will also provide employability skills training in parallel with their placement.

To aid support even further, each Kickstarter will be managed by a dedicated placement manager and will be supported and mentored by a Kickstart Skills Coach, who will ensure objectives and progress is met, performance is reviewed and support, guidance and training is there whenever needed.

On-going communication will be facilitated by the above, as well as relevant training which may include communication skills, presentation skills and writing skills training.

In addition to all mandatory office administrator training required as a new starter, certain teams will provide additional training relating specifically to their business area. For example, a Kickstarter may need certain software training if they’re working in the HR function.

Furthermore, each Kickstarter will benefit from receiving employability skills training provided by United Utilities and us here at Rullion. This training will support each participant in finding long term employment, which will include CV and interview skills workshops, understanding change and resilience training and IT literacy support.
