Sickness

Contractors will not, under a contract for services be paid for sick leave. PAYE contractors will be entitled to claim for statutory sick pay via Rullion. On occasions of sickness absence the contractor  is expected to contact both the Rullion Consultant and the line manager at the client company. If this period of sickness absence will affect completion of the assignment the client company should contact the Rullion consultant. Where it is felt necessary, arrangements will be made to terminate the assignment, Rullion will then source an alternative contractor to continue the assignment.

If the client company so wishes they are able to suspend the assignment of the contractor on sick absence until they are fit to return to work.

Note - Assignments of contractors absent sick due to pregnancy or a disability for example will not normally be terminated. Individual circumstances will always be taken into account and discussed with client companies before any action is taken.

Paid Annual Leave - PAYE Contractors

PAYE Contractors are eligible to 28 days Paid Leave pro rata.

Currently the leave year runs from 1st January to 31st December.  Leave cannot be carried over from one leave year to the next.

Leave can only be claimed once it has been accrued.  In order to receive payment, a Contractor must physically take time off,  ie. they cannot claim for Paid Leave for a day on which they are also working.

In order to claim Paid Leave, a Contractor should notify their administering branch in writing of the dates of their intended absence.  The amount of notice required should be at least twice the length of the period of Leave that the Contractor wishes to take.

If the Leave is for a full week, no Timesheet is required – Rullion just require a completed Leave Request Form.

If the Leave is for less than a full week, a Timesheet must be submitted, detailing the hours worked that week, along with the completed Leave Request Form.  The Timesheet is to state ‘holiday’ in the relevant box.  The Contractor’s  Line Manager then needs to sign the Timesheet and Leave Request Form as applicable.

Further clarification on this subject can be gained from your administering branch.  Your Administering Branch will also be able to provide copies of the Leave Request form.

Hospital, Doctor & Dental Appointments

Contractors will not be paid for any time off taken to attend any of the above. Should the contractor not inform the client company of their requirement to attend an appointment this may result in the termination of an assignment.

Maternity, Paternity and Parental Leave

All related queries should be directed to the Rullion Consultant, whom will advise you of the contractors entitlements in respect of the above leave.

In all circumstances where there is any doubt regarding contractors, contact the Rullion Consultant who will provide advice on how to deal with specific situations.
