Sickness

Contractors / temporary workers will not, under a contract for services be paid for sick leave. PAYE contractors / temporary workers will be entitled to claim for statutory sick pay via Rullion. On occasions of sickness absence the contractor / temporary worker is expected to contact both the Rullion Consultant and the line manager at the client company. If this period of sickness absence will affect completion of the assignment the client company should contact the Rullion consultant. Where it is felt necessary, arrangements will be made to terminate the contractors / temporary workers assignment, Rullion will then source an alternative contractor / temporary worker to continue the assignment.

If the client company so wishes they are able to suspend the assignment of the contractor / temporary worker on sick absence until they are fit to return to work.

Note - Assignments of contractors / temporary workers absent sick due to pregnancy or a disability for example will not normally be terminated. Individual circumstances will always be taken into accound and discussed with client companies before any action is taken.

Holidays

The Working Time Regulations 1998 entitle all workers to 20 days holiday per annum pro-rata. This is inclusive of Bank Holidays.

Contractors / temporary workers will accrue holidays from commencement of their assignment and should be encouraged to take any holidays accrued. Contractors / temporary workers wishing to take Bank Holidays off work will need to book these in the normal way, these holidays will be deducted from the workers accrued annual leave entitlement.

Contractors / temporary workers are required to inform both their Rullion Consultant and the line manager at the client company of their desire to take holidays. Contractors / temporary workers may only book holidays that have already been accrued. Rullion are able to confirm the days accrued to either the contractor / temporary worker or client company where either party is unsure of this figure. Holidays booked by a contractor / temporary worker, with the authorisation of the client company, during an assignment, will form part of the assignment duration. Any bonus or payment offered as part of the assignment should take into account contractors / temporary workers taking time off as holiday.

Hospital, Doctor & Dental Appointments

Contractors / temporary workers will not be paid for any time off taken to attend any of the above. Should the contractor / temporary worker not inform the client company of their requirement to attend an appointment this may result in the termination of an assignment.

Contractors / temporary workers should be encouraged to make appointments either before or after their working day.

Maternity, Paternity and Parental Leave

All related queries should be directed to the Rullion Consultant, whom will advise you of the contractors / temporary workers entitlements in respect of the above leave.

In all circumstances where there is any doubt regarding contractors / temporary workers, contact the Rullion Consultant who will provide advice on how to deal with specific situations.
